We offer classes for adults, teens and children.  Our class sessions run Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall.

Please note: No refunds will be issued after first class/day of camp. Compensation for missed classes is not available. Refunds for classes & workshops given if cancelled one week prior.  Memberships are non-refundable.

    Have you ever told yourself "I can't draw"? In that case, this class was made for you. Anyone can learn to draw, they just need the right foundation. In this course, we will explore what it means to draw using pencils, charcoals, and even an eraser. We’ll discuss composition, variety of line, mass, hatching and cross-hatching. Drawing is the foundation of all visual mediums, so whether you paint or sculpt or work in any other media, drawing is a valuable skill! This will be an encouraging and supportive environment; leave your fear at the door.  Materials list can be found below.

    Drawing board, at least 16”x20”, with attached binder clips 18x24 drawing/mixed media pad (acid-free, archival paper), Two to three pieces of colored paper at least 16”x20” (brown, grey, blue, black, etc), Set of pencils ranging in thickness (6B-6H), Charcoal pencil (one to two, in black), 1 set conte crayons (black and white, preferably two sticks of each), Set of thick, loosely packed charcoals (eg: Char-Kohl) in black

    Explore oil and/or acrylic painting in a relaxed atmosphere. Experienced painters can work to develop their personal style or try a new technique. New artists will be taught the basics of composition, color theory, and painting techniques. Paint from a provided still life or bring a photo/picture to paint. Each class includes demos and individual instruction.  Materials list can be found below or if you have your own supplies, feel free to bring them to class instead.

    Ages 12-15

    This drawing class is designed for those who love to draw and paint but could use a stronger academic foundation. Our four sessions will focus on drawing still-life by emptying out our pockets and purses, exploring the dichotomy between man-made objects and organic forms, learning to draw a human skull and covering facial anatomy, and finally, a session where students will draw themselves in a mirror. Designed to be focused yet unintimidating, this course will give important creative skills while expanding creative horizons!  Materials list can be found below.

    3-7 pencils of varying thicknesses (2B, 4B, 6B, HB, H, F), basic set of colored pencils, small sketchbook (roughly 5” x 8”, book binding or spiral bound), dry media archival drawing pad - 16”x20” or larger, mechanical eraser, kneaded eraser, vinyl eraser

    OPTIONAL: any other drawing materials you may want to explore – chalk or oil pastels, charcoal, marker, etc.

    Being able to draw what you "see" is the foundation for other art experiences. This class will work on building up your drawing skills through observational exercises that will improve your realistic drawings. This class is for all levels of ability especially those who say they can't draw!  All materials included.

    You know you’ve always wanted to try it! Those “happy little trees and rocks” appear like magic. Here’s your chance to give it a try. We will be painting landscapes in the style of legendary Bob Ross. You’ll be guided through the process step by step. All supplies will be provided as you create your masterpieces.  (Bob Ross hair optional!)

    Participants will create their composition using a variety of autumn leaves, then complete their piece with colored pencils. Techniques in blending, textures, form and depth will be used.  Materials list below.

    Always wanted to try your hand at watercolor painting but don't know how to begin? This class will take through the basics of what supplies you will need, what painting techniques are unique to watercolor and the step by step process of completing watercolor paintings. The material list will be presented on the first class.

    This class explores a new way of creating landscapes by using various weaving techniques. Students begin by drilling and warping a picture frame, then learn ways of weaving and working with fiber to create unique pictures. Please bring: 8x10 or 10x12 wooden picture frame-1”-2” wide (see sample; remove glass), drill, 1/8” drill bit, assorted yarns.

    A great course for newer artists! This class will build on drawing foundations in pencil, charcoal, and ink. We will continue to discuss composition, variety of line, chiaroscuro, and other foundational techniques with increased challenges in subject matter. Don't be intimidated!     OPTIONAL: Eraser pen (with reloadable eraser “lead”) - Small sketchbook (Moleskine or similar size, up to 8.5x11)

    Ages 12-Adult     

    Learn to use acrylic paint to create a realistic still-life. We will discuss basic color theory, the color wheel, glazing, and texture. A basic understanding of drawing is a definite advantage, but not a requirement! We will do a couple of still-life setups over the course of the six weeks and instructor will demonstrate skills and techniques as well as providing continual feedback to students!  Materials list can be found below or if you have your own supplies, feel free to bring them to class instead.

    Materials list:

    Acrylic paints, studio or student quality, 2 oz tubes in the following colors

    Alizarin crimson, cadmium red medium, cadmium yellow, yellow ocher, ultramarine blue, cobalt blue, pthalo green, hooker’s green, prism violet, burnt sienna, burnt umber, raw umber, mars black, titanium white 

    Painter’s palette (wood, acrylic, or disposable pad)

    Selection of 8-10 brushes, both natural bristle and acrylic, in FLAT and ROUND. Ensure you have a variety of sizes between 2-16, including a flat brush between size 16-30 for broad strokes and underpainting. 

    9”x12” canvas pad (paper)

    3-4 stretched canvases OR hardboard canvas panels, between 16”x20” and 20”x24” (feel free to go slightly larger if you prefer to work big)

    Palette knife

    1-2 glass jars or large mugs with wide mouth

    Acrylic medium (matte or gloss)
