We offer classes for adults, teens and children.  Our class sessions run Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall.
Please check back as we update our class offerings seasonally and occasionally add additional classes!

PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF CLASS REGISTRATION DEADLINES.  If you wish to register for a class after the deadline, please contact the NHAC Office (412) 364-3622 or visit the center at 3432 Babcock Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA 15237. 

Please note: No refunds/credits will be issued after first class/day of camp. Compensation for missed classes is not available. Refunds for classes & workshops given if cancelled one week prior.  Memberships are non-refundable. 

**Payment required upon registration. Registrations not finalized within 15 minutes are automatically removed as classes have limited space.

    This class for all levels of experience will incorporate aspects of both hand building and wheel throwing. Beginners through advanced students are welcome to hone their skills from building and throwing to the glazing process. Come enjoy an exciting clay-filled evening!   Ask about accessibility options!  Class fee includes clay, glaze, firing, and use of tools.

    Ages 16 - Adult

    Textures are fun to use. In this workshop we will arrange textures on clay and then make casseroles and mugs from the patterns. Beginner as well as advanced students will enjoy this easy and playful process. We will meet twice, once for making and once for glazing. Fee includes clay, glaze, and firing.   Ask about accessibility options!  Class fee includes clay, glaze, firing, and use of tools.

    Learn how to make more challenging forms on the wheel such as bottles, jars with lids, and more with this class. Also learn to use underglazes and glazes in various ways to make stunning surface designs. Students must have previously completed a 6 week pottery course at NHAC, or have wheel throwing experience.  Ask about accessibility options!  Class fee includes clay, glaze, firing, and use of tools.

    Ages16-Adult

    It's tea time in the pottery studio! In this mini-class you will learn how to make a functional teapot with matching tea cups. Making a tea set is an advanced pottery technique so either wheel throwing or handbuilding experience is a requirement. We will look at a variety of teapot and cup shapes and styles as the instructor will lead you through the process of making the tea pot body, spout, lid, handle and cups. You will be able to either wheel throw or hand build the set!  Ask about accessibility options!  Class fee includes clay, glaze, firing, and use of tools.

    Ages 12-Adult

    The white, brown, and dark brown clays will be wedged together to create a beautiful marbled effect in the slabs. Using the marbled clay, you will be able to build a slab container that you will be able to use as planter, casserole dish, or serving tray. No clay experience needed for this workshop!    All materials included.

    Spend an evening decorating a handmade coffee mug, wheel thrown by our pottery supervisor, Diane, with colorful glazes then use the mug to enjoy an afternoon tasting and learning about a variety of coffees with coffee master, Eva, from Starbucks®. Tasty treats will be paired with the coffees.  All materials included.
