We offer classes for adults, teens and children.  Our class sessions run Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall.
Please check back as we update our class offerings seasonally and occasionally add additional classes!

PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF CLASS REGISTRATION DEADLINES.  If you wish to register for a class after the deadline, please contact the NHAC Office (412) 364-3622 or visit the center at 3432 Babcock Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA 15237. 

Please note: No refunds will be issued after first class/day of camp. Compensation for missed classes is not available. Refunds for classes & workshops given if cancelled one week prior.  Memberships are non-refundable.

    This pottery class explores all the aspects of working with clay. Students will learn to hand build and wheel throw while being able to experience a variety of clays and glazing techniques. Advanced students welcome and encouraged to further develop their skills. Ask about accessibility options!  Class fee includes clay, glaze, firing, and use of tools.

    This sculptural class is a great introduction for students to the main approaches towards sculpting clay. We will cover coil-building, slab-building, wheel-thrown sculpture and other techniques in this hands-on experience.     If you have always wanted to try the wheel, hand build, or need a refresher, this 6 week, 12-hour class is for you. Students will create various clay projects of their own choice in a relaxed studio with personal attention. Stoneware and Raku clay available. The last class focuses on glazing.   Class fee includes clay, glaze, firing & use of tools.

    Ages 14-Adult

    Finishing your pottery piece can be a daunting decision. This 6 week class will cover the entire process from making the pottery pieces to finishing them with the many options available to the ceramic artist. We will cover adding textures to the clay surface, carving into the surface, sgraffito decoration, underglazes, underglaze transfer, wax resist and using the traditional glazes. Glazing applications will also be explored: dipping, painting, resist, pouring and overlapping!  Class fee includes clay, glaze, firing, and use of tools.
