We offer classes for adults, teens and children.  Our class sessions run Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall.
Please check back as we update our class offerings seasonally and occasionally add additional classes!

PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF CLASS REGISTRATION DEADLINES.  If you wish to register for a class after the deadline, please contact the NHAC Office (412) 364-3622 or visit the center at 3432 Babcock Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA 15237. 

Please note: No refunds/credits will be issued after first class/day of camp. Compensation for missed classes is not available. Refunds for classes & workshops given if cancelled one week prior.  Memberships are non-refundable. 

**Payment required upon registration. Registrations not finalized within 15 minutes are automatically removed as classes have limited space.

    Ages 12-Adult

    This pottery class explores all the aspects of working with clay. Students will learn to hand build and wheel throw while being able to experience a variety of clays and glazing techniques. Advanced students welcome and encouraged to further develop their skills. Ask about accessibility options!  Class fee includes clay, glaze, firing, and use of tools.

    This class for all levels of experience will incorporate aspects of both hand building and wheel throwing. Beginners through advanced students are welcome to hone their skills from building and throwing to the glazing process.     Have you always wanted to learn to make pottery on the wheel? Do you like making things by hand? Do both! In this class we will use hand building techniques and the wheel to make mugs, bowls, vases and other forms of your choice.       Experienced potters may work at their own pace and are encouraged to work on the wheel or do hand building. Clay and glazes sold through the studio. **Please note: you must completed a 5 or 6 week pottery class to join this Open Studio Session as there is  NO INSTRUCTION GIVEN First floor studio.

      Ages 12-Adult

      Fall is here and you need some new decorations! Using some hand building techniques (no experience needed), you will create clay pumpkins and gourds for your fall decor. We will have the real thing to look at for inspiration as we form our pieces. Once the pieces have been bisque fired, you will return to add the finishing touches as you apply the ceramic glazes. The pieces will be fired again and will be ready for you to pick up before Halloween! NO CLAY EXPERIENCE NECESSARY.  All materials included

      Ages 12-Adult

      Create a hand built basket with strips of interwoven clay. Students have the option of uniquely finishing the top of the bowl with clay decorations, adding a handle. and selecting a glaze that will be fired on the basket. The baskets will then be ready for your decorated eggs, candy, fruit, etc.  All materials included.

      This clay class will focus on using our clay extruder. We will be using the variety of dies to extrude clay coils, strips and hollow forms. We will use these extruded shapes to create coil cylinders, casserole dishes, soap dispensers, olive oil dispensers, woven baskets and more. No previous clay experience is necessary.  Ask about accessibility options!  Class fee includes clay, supplies, glaze, firing, and use of tools.
