Adult Drawing and Pastels

    Ages 18+

    Students will be taught the many different ways you can hold a pencil while drawing, and will be encouraged to experiment and try them out. They will be taught to look at values, forms of objects, and measurements in still life objects. At the end of this 4 week class, students will have a better understanding of how to draw from observation and  gain a better understanding of how to compose their own drawings.

    Cancellation Policy: Registrations may be cancelled up to seven days before the start of class by contacting the office. Cancellation of this class will result in a $25 cancellation fee, to be deducted from the refund amount.

    Spring is the perfect time to create magic. Basic drawing and anatomy skill will be introduced as well as watercolor techniques. Colored pencil will be used to detail and finish. Bring 2 references; 1 for fairies and 1 for flowers or fruit. All materials included.

    Ages 16+

    Using acrylic paint and a variety of specialty markers, you will design and paint a themed painting on a round canvas. You will pick a subject (flowers, animals, trees etc.) and create areas on the canvas that depict the theme, enhancing the areas with patterns using the markers. All materials included.

    Ages 18+

    Take the stress out of learning watercolor while painting your favorite sea creature or sea scape. We will start off with simple subjects and progress towards more intricate scenes. The use of water-color pencils or colored pencils is optional for detailing. All skill levels welcome. Materials list below.

    Dates: Mondays 7/6 - 8/10 (6 sessions)
    Time: 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

    SUPPLIES:

    • watercolor paper - 140 lb. or 300 lb. cold press paper - any brand, any size (can also use 'Masonite board')
    • brushes:  round - #4, #8, #12 or any variety of different sizes
    • brushes:  flat - 1/2" & 1" or any variety of similar sizes
    • masking tape
    • plastic palette with large mixing areas
    • cup for water
    • Q-Tips
    • sponge
    • pencil and soft eraser

    PAINTS:

    • Artist grade paints in TUBES (not cakes), which includes:  cadmium yellow, lemon yellow, cadmium red, alizarin crimson, Vandyke brown, raw sienna, Prussian blue, cerulean blue, sap green, Payne's gray
    • If you do not have all of these colors, just bring a nice variety of what you have on hand.

You will learn about the materials and techniques you can use to enhance your drawings. All materials included.

    Soft pastels are a vibrant and rewarding painting medium! This class will cover using pastels with a variety of different techniques and with a variety of surfaces.  All levels are welcome as we explore the pastel pencils, sticks and pan pastels. All materials included.
