    Create a charming, felted birdhouse to bring a touch of handmade artistry to your garden! Use wet felting techniques to craft a sturdy, functional birdhouse; perfect for outdoor décor. You will use a resist method to shape a felted pod, and learn how to make a felted rope to suspend your birdhouse in any space. Bring a lunch or a snack. All materials included.

    Use the traditional arts of applique' and embroidery to turn an ordinary denim jacket into a unique work of art. You supply the jacket; we supply the rest of the supplies. No previous needlework experience is necessary. All materials included.

    Using both indigo dye and traditional fabric paints, we will create beautiful patterns on fabric using the shibori technique of folding, clamping, and twisting. You may bring one or two natural fibers to dye (they must fit in a 5 gallon bucket) or you may use the silk scarves provided. All materials included.

    Looking to add a pop or creativity to your wardrobe and learn a new skill at the same time? Look no further! In this class, you'll learn the basics of tablet weaving both on and off the loom. You'll go home with your own pair of one-of-a-kind, handwoven shoelaces and the skills to make more. All materials included.

    This class explores a new way of creating landscapes with yarn. A pre-drilled picture frame with warp cords will be provided and you will learn a variety of weaving techniques and ways to work with fiber to create a unique landscape picture. Bring a metal yarn needle and various yarns to class.

  • A-414 Batik Painting (FA25)

    Ages 18+

    The hot wax dye process of batik will be used to create unique paintings on cotton. We start by applying wax to save the white areas and continue applying dyes as we paint the picture. The entire painting will be soaked in black dye to create the "batik" look. When the wax is melted off, the painting is complete. All materials included.
