    Liven up your holiday decorations with a hand built gingerbread house made out of clay. We will be using templates, slabs, sprig molds, stamps, and shape cutters to create our "candy" decorated houses. The houses will be finished with a variety of colorful ceramic glazes making them irresistible.

    Whether you are just starting out or looking to hone existing skills, this workshop offers tools to help you gain more control in your work.  We will learn basic watercolor physics, practice 3 foundational wash techniques and learn to avoid the watercolorist's most common pitfall.

    Materials: Please bring a large round watercolor brush (such as size 16) and a small watercolor brush (such as size 8). Paint and paper will be provided. If you prefer to use your own paint, feel free to bring it instead.

    During this 4 week course, students will learn the different paint styles and how to work with acrylic or oil paint. The class will focus on blending paint and the beginning phases of perspective in a painting.

    Constructive Drawing is an approach that helps an artist to develop their "drawing brain" by cultivating an intuitive understanding of 3-dimensional form. Students will learn the basics of perspective, seeing in three dimensions, and simplifying complex forms.     During this 4 week course, students will learn the different paint styles and how to work with acrylic or oil paint. The class will focus on blending paint and the beginning phases of perspective in a painting.

      The hot wax dye process of batik will be used to create unique paintings on cotton. We will start by applying wax to save the white areas and continue applying dyes as we paint the picture. The entire painting will be soaked in black dye to create the "batik" look. the wax will be melted off and the painting is complete. All materials included.

      Ice will provide us with the colors of the rainbow as we use it to dye our items of clothing. We will be using some simple tie dyeing techniques in this unique and fun way to make ice work for us. Please bring TWO (2) items for dyeing.       Shibori is the Japanese dyeing process of folding fabric to create interesting patterns. We will dye a silk scarf in class, which is provided, but you need to bring two additional items to dye. Both need to be natural fibers such as 100% cotton, linen, rayon, bamboo, or silk. We will use both fabric paint and traditional indigo dye. All dye materials included.

      In anticipation of Spring and Easter, Pysanky are a tradition in Eastern Europe. This batik method of applying layers of beeswax and egg dye to the eggs creates intricate and beautiful designs.
