    Ages 16 to Adult

    Explore the beautiful art of indigo dyeing using the Japanese technique of Shibori. We'll be using the deep blue indigo dye  and you will learn 5-6 different Shibori techniques to create one-of-a-kind textiles.  

    Please bring:  2 items that are 100% cotton, rayon, linen, bamboo, wool or silk and rubber gloves.

    Ages 15+

    Using the fundamental elements of portrait drawing will be the focus of this class.  We will first use graphite to complete all the exercises to help create a finished drawing and meet a second time to complete our drawings or paintings. Any level is welcome. Students are responsible for their own supplies and encouraged to bring a lunch or snack.

    Supplies should include: 

    Drawing pencils (no charcoal)

    Kneaded eraser and white plastic eraser

    Sketch tablet, 11x14 or larger


    If you wish to paint in the second class, you are welcome to do so.  There will be no teaching on mixing colors for flesh tones, but there will be recipes available.  If you are bringing oil paints, please bring turpinoid or turpentine made for artists; please no hardware turpentine.

    Add a light touch to your home by making 2 minimalist inspired wreaths using a combination of commercially available and natural materials.  These less-is-more projects will be based on a 10" wooden hoop which can be enlarged by allowing materials to break out of the traditional circular wreath boundary.  Bring sticks, dried materials or any item you want to include in your wreaths. All materials included.

    Come create a beautiful stained glass, glass on glass mosaic you can hang in your window to welcome Spring. Using basic glass cutting tools, you will be guided  through the mosaic process from beginning to a finished piece that's ready to hang.

    Create exciting collage papers by dissolving National Geographic pages.  This fascinating and experimental process creates beautiful collage papers for you to use in your art projects.  You will use the papers you create to make an interesting collage.  All materials included.

    Ages 14+

    Gyotaku (from gyo=fish and taku=stone impression) is the traditional Japanese method of printing fish; a practice which dates back to the 1800's.  This method of printmaking uses fish, sea creatures or similar subjects "printing plates." You will learn the technique and create a Gyotaku painting.
