We offer classes for adults, teens and children.  Our class sessions run Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall.

    Experienced potters may work at their own pace and are encouraged to work on the wheel or do hand building.     Get ready for the Summer Solstice Raku event at this workshop. Hand build or wheel throw pieces for the Raku firing on June 21 at 6:00pm. No prior clay experience is necessary. Three to four pieces will be made in this workshop.  Class fee includes clay, glaze, firing, and use of tools.

    This class will cover the entire lettering process from pencil sketch to inked drawing to digital* finish. Chock- full of tips and tools for exploring concept-driven hand lettered artwork, you’ll create your own hand lettered illustrations each week based on briefs given in class. This class is perfect for beginners seeking to learn the basics of hand lettering, as well as intermediate students looking to dive deeper into incorporating hand- lettering in their professional work. Please bring: drawing paper, graph paper, pencils, fine and broad tip black markers/Sharpies, tracing paper & ruler. 

    *Digital processes will be taught, but are optional for creating work for this class. If desired, students would need access to a scanning app on their phone and Photoshop.

    Do you knit, weave or crochet? Did you ever want to make your own yarn? This workshop will explore an affordable and basic way to spin wool into yarn. Hands-on instruction with two experienced spinners will offer individual attention. Other fibers, plying, and spinning wheels will also be discussed. Each student gets their own drop spindle to take home! All materials included.

    Draw your home or an architectural structure you appreciate using perspective, lighting, value, problem solving and more. In the first class, we will work on the drawing and discuss different mediums that will work for your finished project.  Please bring: pencils, drafting eraser,  kneaded eraser, ruler, sharpener, drawing paper (nothing smaller than 11 x 14) and a good quality tracing paper something very transparent, (Canson® recommended).

    Sogetsu Ikebana Open Studio meets the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month

    Ikebana is a Japanese form of flower arranging which concentrates on line, color, and space using materials from your backyard garden. Ikebana can be done by anyone, anytime, anywhere with any materials. You must email Reiko at nakajimar@comcast.net by Tuesday to reserve your space and for materials fee.

    Ages 5-9  (with or without non-paying adult caregiver)    Calling all pirates and treasure hunters!  Create Blackbeard's treasure and treasure chest!  Make your own pirate ship like the Black Pearl and see if it sails. Make an old weathered treasure map! Design your own miniature pirates like Anne Bonny and Captain Hook out of clay. And don't forget sharks, whales and crocodiles!  For more fun-bring your dad to the ’hunt’ on Father’s Day and create together!  Non-paying adult caregiver welcome at either ’hunt’!   All materials included.

    Have you ever told yourself “I can’t draw”? This class was created to dispel that myth! Anyone can learn to draw, with the right tools & the right instruction. Over the course of six sessions, I will teach you the basics of how to use pencils, charcoal, and other dry media to create a drawing from observation. The class will focus primarily on still life, the most approachable subject when learning to draw.     Have you ever wanted to try painting but were too intimidated? Intrigued by color but reluctant to commit to the cost and care of oil painting? Whether you’ve dabbled in paints a couple of times or have never touched a brush to a canvas before, you will feel more confident and capable once you have explored the basics of color theory and familiarized yourself with materials and techniques while completing a painting from life. This five-session course will take you from creating a color wheel and learning about value and saturation of colors, to mixing and color matching, to painting a still-life.     Learn hypothetical anatomy, textures, and lighting for one of humanity’s favorite imaginary creatures.     Ages 8-10 years old   Learn the basics of cartooning in this 5 day camp with professional cartoonist/illustrator George Broderick, Jr. From creating your own original character using basic, simple shapes to inking, lettering, and coloring your drawings for that “professional” touch, the next GREAT comic character could be just a few pencil lines away for your child. Please bring to class: pencils, ruler, eraser, one thick, one thin Sharpie marker, white sketch paper, color pencils, and color markers.
