We offer classes for adults, teens and children.  Our class sessions run Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall.
Please check back as we update our class offerings seasonally and occasionally add additional classes!

PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF CLASS REGISTRATION DEADLINES.  If you wish to register for a class after the deadline, please contact the NHAC Office (412) 364-3622 or visit the center at 3432 Babcock Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA 15237. 

 Please note: No refunds will be issued after first class/day of camp. Compensation for missed classes is not available. Refunds for classes & workshops given if cancelled one week prior.  Memberships are non-refundable. 

**Registrations not finalized within 24 hours are automatically removed as classes have limited space.

    Open Studio Pottery  ( Ages 18 and up)

    Experienced potters may work at their own pace and are encouraged to work on the wheel or do hand building. Clay and glazes sold through the studio. ** Please note: you must have taken pottery classes to join this Open Studio Session as there is  NO INSTRUCTION GIVEN.   YOU MUST HAVE COMPLETED A POTTERY CLASS AT THE NHAC IN ORDER TO ATTEND.   First floor studio.  Ask about accessibility options.

    Come and explore the excitement of watercolor. Beginners will learn basic techniques needed to successfully use watercolor. While more advanced watercolor artists will continue to develop their skills.   Materials list can be found below or if you have your own supplies, feel free to bring them to class instead.

    Adult     Explore oil and/or acrylic painting in a relaxed atmosphere. Experienced painters can work to develop their personal style or try a new technique. New artists will be taught the basics of composition, color theory, and painting techniques. Paint from a provided still life or bring a photo/picture to paint. Each class includes demos and individual instruction.  Materials list can be found below or if you have your own supplies, feel free to bring them to class instead.

    This 18-hour class is for the potter who wants to improve their skills on the wheel. We will be working on larger forms, multiple forms, plates, lidded pieces and tea pots. Ask about accessibility options!  Class fee includes clay, glaze, firing, and use of tools.

    Douglas Brown paints with a focus on controlled realism, and you can learn the secrets of his technique. Each class will start with a short demo of the subject of the week. All students will receive individual attention and will work at his or her own pace.     This six week, 12-hour pottery class explores all the aspects of working with clay. Students will learn to hand build and wheel throw while being able to experience a variety of clays and glazing techniques.
